We have received the below from Merrik B. Brown on the 6th February
I had a telephone call today from Bob Ladell to tell me that his mother, Joan, had died yesterday. She was aged 93, and had been becoming increasingly frail over the past few years, and latterly from dementia. I had kept in touch with her via Christmas cards since George died.
Her husband George was an inspirational woodwork teacher and craftsman at Abbotsholme in the late 1940s and 1950s, he died in 2011. They both came to the Stourport reunion on several occasions. I remember George well, but I cannot remember Joan at the school, though she remembered me. I think that she was on the non-teaching staff, and it was at the school where they met.
My wife and I visited them once or twice in their house near Shrewsbury. They were both obviously very artistic. The walls were literally covered with their paintings, etchings, and other items of their work. They were arranged about four rows high all round.
The funeral is yet to be arranged. It will probably be made available on some system or another. He gave me his email address:
He said that if anyone wanted to “attend” the funeral they should send him an email and he will send them the details when they are known.
