The club would like to congratulate Tina Alexander (nee Kent) who was presented with the award of Member of the British Empire (MBE) by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in October. Tina was recognised for services to British Nationals following Hurricane Maria. Tina attended Abbotsholme from 1973 to 1978.
Tina is the British Honorary Consul in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Liaising with British consular officers, humanitarian aid workers and military officers, Tina worked tirelessly to offer support and advice to British citizens in need of help in the days and weeks following the Hurricane in 2017.
After leaving Abbotsholme, Tina trained in social work and spent 10 years working in London. For more than 20 years, Tina has called Dominica home, raising her family on the island. She worked as a psychiatric Social Worker and developed a community psychiatry model for the Ministry of Health. In 2001, she left to develop an NGO, Lifeline Ministries, and to study for a Masters in Counselling.
